Hi, I'm Rizwana
I have been sewing for 30+ years in the Modest Fashion industry. My journey started at the age of 12 when my mum and dad had a vision for me. My mum could never sew. She felt she really missed out on this skill in her life and didn’t want ME to miss out on this opportunity.
Fast forward a Fashion Design BA Hons, a bespoke clothing line business of 10+ years, teaching Textile GCSE at high school and 30+ years in this industry, I have seen, lived and breathed it all.
I understand the challenges that come with creating stunning Fashion pieces that are Modest but at the same time makes you feel beautifully elegant.
In this course, I share my bespoke methods I’ve perfected over time to create the perfect Modest Fashion and I am totally excited about taking you on a journey to get you sewing all your own beautiful clothes with confidence and ease.
I will be going through this entire journey with you step by step.

Taking Measurements
In this module, you learn how to take measurements from a female body. You will learn what ease is and how to add the ease to your measurements. You also learn how to take measurements from a ready-made abaya.
Semi-Fitted Abaya Shape
How to draft out your pattern for a Semi-Fitted Abaya, Including sleeves and facings. I also teach you how to cut it out onto fabric in this module.
Introduction to the sewing machine
Introduction to the sewing machine and overlocker. In this module we explore both domestic and industrial sewing machines
Sewing up the Abaya
In this module, I teach you how to sew the abaya together. We use a sewing machine and an overlocker and sew the full abaya up with sleeves.
Grown-On Sleeve Abaya
In this module, I teach you how to adapt the first pattern and make a grown-on sleeve abaya. This is an abaya where the sleeves are joint to the garment and there is no armhole.
Batwing Abaya
Batwing Abaya: this is a totally versatile abaya, that fits all body sizes and suits all body shapes. If you invest your time in this silhouette, you will be wanting to make one in every colour. We cut and sew up the batwing abaya in this module. It also has cuffs
Basic Kimono
Basic Kimono. In this module, you learn how to cut and sew an open kimono. We master the different cuts possible, and most importantly, we apply beautiful plackets to our abayas.
Oversized Kimono
Oversized Kimono: This kimono is super on-trend and totally oversized, and suits and fits all body sizes.
Draft and sew a straight trouser
Straight Trousers: In this module you learn how to cut and sew your own trousers, using your own bespoke measurements.
